Music Piracy Is A Way Of Life
Rob Sheriden has posted a very readable rant on music piracy over here. It’s a nice open and honest view on the history of online music piracy that covers some of my own feelings on the issue, both as somebody actively involved in developing technology and as a music enthusiast.
It’s worth reading, if somewhat lengthy, though I think it’s a well structured piece on the effect of technology on traditional media, something that over the past few days I’ve tried to explain on a few occasions. I fully expect print media to fail in the same ways for the same reasons. Once music / media / news is a commodity, you live and die by quality. Only the people willing to change in that respect will survive, as it should be.
